What is Mead? Mead is an alcoholic drink of fermented honey and water! However, not all meads are created in the same manner. Known as the drink of the Gods and in modern memory, associated with the Vikings, mead is now also produced using base alcohol, white wine or sugar syrup, with honey added at a later stage.
Thor is the thunder God in Norse mythology. His courage and sense of duty are unshakeable. His most famous possession is his hammer, Mjöllnir (‘Lightning’). For the heathen Scandinavians, just as thunder was the embodiment of Thor, lightning was the embodiment of his hammer slaying giants.
Thor’s Mead is a ‘Metheglin’ (herbed honey mead), using Blossom honey. It has Citra hops added after the fermentation process. This gives it a light, hoppy flavour suitable for the craft beer drinkers amongst us.
