Balzer Designs: Two Ways to Make a Coin Envelope Mini Book

Last week on the Paperclipping Roundtable podcast I tried to explain how to make a mini book from coin envelopes.  I failed miserably.  So I promised photos instead.  Here they are!

OPENING ON THE OUTSIDE

If you want your mini to have the envelope openings on the ouside edge of the page, follow these instructions.

1-envelopes
1-envelopes
Using No. 1 coin envelopes, flip the flap on five envelopes.

3-StickTogether
Using the existing adhesive, adhere the envelopes to each other with the flipped flap.

You will have one flap leftover at the end.

6-wraparound
Wrap it around the whole book to create a pretty spine.

You have now sealed all the envelope openings.

Cut a tiny slit on the edge of the envelope and now you have a brand new opening to slip whatever you’d like into!

OPENING ON THE INSIDE

If you want your mini to have the envelope openings on the inside edge of the page, follow these instructions.

10-addadhesive
Add adhesive to the outside of five envelope flaps.

11-stackthem
Adhere the five envelopes together.  You can just stack them and press down.  You will have one flap left over.

12-wrapflap
Wrap that flap around the album to create a pretty spine.  The exisiting envelope adhesive is exposed.  You can cover it with tape or paint if you’d like.

13-openinginside
Now your mini has the openings near the spine on the inside of each spread.

And here is an example of an album I made from coin envelopes about five years ago:

Cute, no?
