Dark Cloud 2 Trophy Guide • PSNProfiles.com

*Missable* After completing Chapter 7, the Moon Flower Palace will no longer be available. Make sure you get all medals from that dungeon before proceeding through the final boss door.

This will be one of the most frustrating and grindiest trophies of the game. Let’s talk tips shall we.

Table of Contents

Speedrun

It’s possible to get the Speedrun on foot with a powerful gun, but a quick Ridepod with a powerful weapon is recommended, especially on Underground Water Channel which has time limits of less than 3 minutes. Bringing Pau with you will help since he shows a layout of that floor without the need for the map, allowing you to plan ahead. Mimics will be a headache since there’s no way to know which chests are Mimics and which aren’t. The amount of Mimics on any given floor is fixed though, so if there are 3, and you find the third, you can ignore the rest of the chests. You might also want to consider ignoring the enemy drops too, particularly on low time limit floors. If you were quick enough, you will be given the medal as soon as you defeat all monsters. If you don’t get it, you’ll need to try again.

Wipeout

Each floor also has a goal for beating all enemies in a certain way. These will be:

  • Using only Maxs Right Hand Weapon
  • Using only Maxs Gun
  • Using only Monicas Sword
  • Using only Monicas Magic
  • Using only Items
  • Using only Ridepod
  • Using only Monster Transformation
  • Clear All Without Healing

Most of these are pretty straightforward. Use the required weapon, though if you start to struggle, consider coming back later with a stronger version of that weapon. Monster Transformation is horribly weak to start with so it’s recommended building it up a bit before attempting those.

Defeating with Items is a pain in the ass. Use Bombs, Improved bombs, Final Bombs and Elemental Stones. Poison Apples, Gooey Peaches, and Heart Throb Cherries can also help. Poison will never kill an enemy but it will slowly drain it’s HP to 1. Poison an enemy then come back later to finish it with another item. You can also use the rocks/crates/vases you see littered around. Pick them up by holding L2 and pressing Cross. Throw them by pressing Cross again. They don’t do much damage, but they do daze your enemies allowing for follow up attacks without fear of missing a throw. You can also throw certain enemies at each other for damage. Make sure to bring enough materials required to build more bombs if you have them invented.

The last one is Clear all Without Healing. Just don’t use any healing items from your inventory, or any healing springs you may find on that floor. Oddly enough, Ridepod Fuel may be used without voiding the medal. Also, if you get healed by an Angel/Devil coin, that won’t count against you. Neither will being healed by a weapon with the Heal or Absorb attribute. The main difference with this one is the point at which you get it. All the other Wipeout Medals will be awarded as soon as you defeat all monsters, but the Clear all Without Healing will be given to you after leaving that floor. This means you still mustn’t heal after clearing all monsters. Wait until you leave the floor.

NOTE! Using Max’s charge attack (hold Cross then release) can deflect enemy projectile attacks back at them. This counts as a Magic attack and will void the Wipeout Goal you’re going for.

Fishing

You must clear all monsters before you can fish. Only Max can go fishing. Make sure you have a rod and some bait, then find a body of water to fish in. If you forget what the fish goal was, open your menu and select Move. Select the floor you are on to see its medal requirements. Choose your bait, cast the line out and wait. You’ll feel the controller vibrate when you get a nibble. Watch the bobber until it disappears below the surface (you’ll also see a red

above Max’s head) then quickly pull down on the Left Analog. Reel it in slowly and carefully with Cross and push Left Analog in the direction idicated by the arrows on screen. (just one quick push, don’t hold in that direction or line tension will increase). Once you get the fish to with 1.5m you’ll pull it out. If it falls below the size requirement, you’ll need to try again. You may need a lot of bait. You can buy it from Fabio when you recruit him. See Silver . You’ll need a bit of luck for this one. Increase your rods stats to improve your chances.

Spheda

You can only play Spheda once all monsters are defeated. Only Max can play Spheda. Equip your chosen Spheda club and go to the flashing red/blue dot on the map. (it will offer to move you right to it, but since this prompt comes up before you’ve had chance to collect the drops from the last enemy, you may wish to say no so you can collect the experience and money). The solid red/blue dot is the distortion. See Bronze for more info on how Spheda works.

Every dungeon floor in the game has medals, except boss floors and story floors. There will always be a Speed Run medal and a Wipeout Goal, and either Fishing, Spheda, or both. Spheda will be on every floor except the first few and last few floors of Oceans Roar Cave, and Fishing will only be on every floor of Rainbow Butterfly Wood, the last 4 floors of Starlight Canyon and the first few and last few floors of Oceans Roar Cave. After completing Chapter 7, the Moon Flower Palace will no longer be available.
